Champagne has a unique place life and is an icon of luxury. It signifies celebrations and special events and lets not forget that it makes a great gift.

Champagne is made in an area in France, east of Paris. The three different blends of grape varieties are Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meuiner.

The style of champagne can vary significantly, and each of champagne Houses has their own house style, a formula passed down from generation to generation. The differences are made by using different percentages of the grape varieties and varying production methods and ageing periods. The makers will carefully blend the wine to keep the same house style year in and year out.

Champagnes which are made solely from white grapes (100%chardonnay) may be labelled Blanc de Blanc. When young it has
Lively, zesty flavours but also the greatest ageing potential. Over time it can develop toasty and biscuity aromas and flavours. Blanc de noirs is made entirely from black grapes. Pinot Noir and Meunier – ours is, unusually 100% Pinot Noir.

Vintage champagne is only made in the best year, such as 1996, 1999 and 2002, and non-vintage is a blend of more than one year, using reserve wines from previous years to add extra flavour. The best champagne is made from the grapes grown in the best vineyards, which are classified as Grand Cru, followed by Premier Cru. Most champagne is brut which is bone dry. Demi-secis medium-dry.

ALEXANDRE BONNET BLANC DE NOIRS

This is a smooth and fresh champagne made only from the black-skinned champagne grape Pinot Noir, However as the juice and the skins are quickly separated in the winery and the end result is a white wine.

LAURENT-PERRIER ULTRA BRUT.

This brilliant and delicious ‘ultra’ dry champagne is referred to as ‘zero dosage’ which means that no sugar has been added to the wine after fermentation which is normally the champagne procedure.

LAURENT-PERRIER CUVEE ROSE

This rose champagne with its special bottle shape is sure to please wine connoisseurs. L-P uses the ‘soak on skins technique to obtain the rose colour and flavour. 100% Pinot Noir from ten Grand Cru villages. Raspberry and redcurrant fruit with subtle brioche finish.
